I can see my dad, Jackie Williamson, in a couple of the photos. He played for Rovers from 52 to 59 with the likes of McNaught, Polland and Urqhuart. Dad’s 82 now and unfortunately suffering from Alzheimer’s and we’re going to start going through some of his and mum’s things. If we find anything interesting I’ll be sure to let you know.
Have you heard of the Football Memories project? It is a fantastic initiative that makes a massive difference to Alzheimer’s sufferers, as well as those with other memory-impacting conditions. We ran a group at Starks Park for a while but it petered out unfortunately, but I believe there’s still a group that meets in the Alzheimer Scotland resource centre in Kirkcaldy. You can find out more at http://www.footballmemories.org.uk/
I hope your Dad is coping as well as possible with his condition.
